About Drink Buddy

Drink Buddy is a free Android app that logs your drinks and estimates your blood alcohol content in real time — built to be simple, private, and useful on a night out, not a data-collection exercise.

Why we built it

Most drink-tracking apps ask you to create an account, sync to the cloud, or hand over more personal data than the job requires. Drink Buddy does the opposite. It uses the Widmark formula — the same method used in medical and legal contexts — to give you a real-time BAC estimate and sobriety timer from just your weight and biological sex, logged drink by drink as the night goes on.

No sign-up. No cloud sync. Nothing to configure before you can use it.

Privacy by design

All of your data — drink logs, weight, preferences — stays on your device. There's no account because there's no server to have an account with. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail on what the app stores and why.

Responsible drinking, not around it

Drink Buddy is intended for adults aged 18 and over. It's a tracking tool, not a product that promotes alcohol consumption — the goal is to help you know your numbers, not to encourage drinking more of anything. The guides on this site follow the same approach: practical, evidence-based information on standard drinks, BAC and hangovers, sourced from bodies like the NHMRC, NIAAA and healthdirect, with a consistent reminder that if you're driving, the only safe number is zero.
